Expand SMS Memory

1. Browse to the folder /ifs/settings/messaging/ with FAR Manager
2. select pref_store.txt an hit F4
3. Just change "/smsdata" in "/tpa"
4. Save the changes
5. go back to "root" like mb-new description and shutdown the loader
6. Now restart your Phone and be happy

Set ring volume as player volume

Copy file farfield_play.apf to any folder of PC, rename it to farfield_ring.apf and copy back. So file farfield_ring.apf in phone is replaced by file with settings of farfield_play.apf. Now we have 2 same files but different names.

Killing camera sound

Go to FS/tpa/preset/system/sound and delete file camerashutter.3gp and for killing autofocus sound delete file camerafocus.3gp.

Killing MobilePrint

Go to FS/tpa/preset/system/ams and delete MOBILEPRINT.jad and MOBILEPRINT.jar and have additional 361kb free memory. Unnecessary standard games & midlets are in FS/tpa/preset/default/java and to be deleted if you wish. In FS/tpa/preset/wizard you can delete 5 biggest by size GIF files.

Change sms sounds

FS/tpa/preset/system/sound delete message alert and put new one but with same name (messagealert1, messagealert2....)

Get rid of discharge battery sound

Go to FStpapresetsystemsoundlowbattery.mid and replace it the same name file with zero size.

Shutdown Sound

Navigate to /fs/tpa/preset/system/settings
Place any mp3 in there and rename to SHUTDOWN_SOUND_SEMC.mp3 and it will play it when you shut down the phone.

Change video recording quality

Go here using FAR. FS/ifs/settings/camera
Edit the driver.
Change the video recording to:

VR_NORMAL_MODE_FR=44;
VR_NIGHT_MODE_FR=28;

Get Rid of Hissing in Music Playback (Thanks to aksd)

Backup your jar files

Go to tpa/perset/system/ams/And copy the files in there to your computer.

Removing the SE Links in folders

Go here tpapresetsystemcustmenu, and tpapresetcustom
Removing all the files from the custmenu folder, and all the .itm files from the second custom folder success****y removed the content hooks, as well as resetting my Play Now icon to the default SE one.
itm's are tar files with images and xml files inside. The itm sits in presetcustom and get's unpacked to presetsystemcustmenu on master reset. So DESKTOP_HOOK_1.itm contents get unpacked to presetsystemcustmenuDESKTOP_HOOK_1 when the phone is reset.

Camera Trick for Sony Ericsson Z600 / T610 / T630

This trick will works on T610 with R3c firmware and above, T630 and Z600.

Because with the recent firmware, Sony Ericsson decide to compress the camera pics to reduce its memory size. So the pics taken will looks blury and pixel. You can transfer the pic back to PC then back to phone again and it will looks much better and of course occupy more memory space.

Now, you don't even have to transfer the camera pics back to PC then phone to increase its quality, you can simply do this:

After you press the capture button to take the picture, then continue pressing in the joystick on T610/T630 or the middle button on the Z600, because we are trying to save the pic before the phone compress the pic to reduce its quality, you will know if you sucess or not by simply seeing the screen around turns black after save. Then you know its done. You can now go to my pictures and check the pic u just taken, its clear and not blurry and check the memory space, its also small.

But after you taken more than 1 pics, the phone will automatically increase the memory size of the previous pics u taken, but the latest one will still occupy a small memory size while the quality is good.

Silent Mode

When On Standby mode Keep on pressing the "C" button for around 2-3 seconds. Then a menu will pop up with the title Standby Menu. Now you could press 1 to turn on silent press 2 to lock keypad.

Volume Up/Down

During a call is in progress you could Move the Volume slider Up & Down to adjust the volume.

Free phone calls using the GH688
This trick has only been reported working on PREPAID GSM CARDS and in some countries and with some sw versions.
The prepaid GSM SIM CARD is a kind of "SIM card" which only has a sertant amount of credit on it (like a normal phonebox telecard)... if it can be traced? - we don't know...

Well..here's the trick you dial the no. normally and press YES. While "connecting" is shown on the screen, the following procedure should be carried out: Press CLR then 0 then # and then NO (twice) so as to switch OFF the phone. You can then still speak on the phone while it is switched off but the SIM card does not record your calls which will lead to FREE phone calls in some countries.. we hope!!

Another variant of the code
Make a Call, while the phone says Connecting type 083# (the position 83 must be empty! ), when phone says Pos Emtpy, press the NO key and turn off the phone.
If you can make the call with the phone turned off you will face a problem when you need to hang up the phone...the only way for you to do that is remove the battery...???
